So this is not a horrible problem to have, but I have a breeding population of stomatella snails in the tank that probably numbers in the hundreds, albeit maybe only a couple dozen larger ones - lots of midsize.

Since their population exploded I’ve been seeing die off of a lot of my other CUC - crabs, snails, conches. I suspect they’re outcompeting for food via sheer numbers and there’s not much left for the rest of the algae eaters in there. Microfauna - shrimp, amphipods and copepods seem fine, along with little feather dusters. The bristleworms also seem untroubled….

Is there anything to do about this? Or just deal with having a less interesting CUC consisting almost entirely of stomatella snails?

Try adding some algae wafers and see if the other snail and crab go for it. I would seen if a LFS would take some off of your hands. I have not had this problem yet but it would be what it would try. I also have a lot stomatella in my tank and the numbers seem to be growing.

If you're interested in parting with some, I'd be happy to take them off your hands :)

Sell them, I'd gladly buy some. I somehow only have 1 lonely one in my tank. My lfs had a tank over ran with them, tried to get them to sell me some but they said no for some odd reason.

I have plenty in my tank that are constantly multiplying if anyone is interested. Not sure what the going rate is on them and I’ve never shipped any livestock. If anybody is within driving distance of zip 30474 I’d be happy to meet halfway within reason and swap a bundle for a nice SPS frag or two.
