I have a bare bottom 140 gallon tank, 48.5”x24.5”x29.5”. I have been cycling for a month, and parameters have stabilized. I think we are almost ready to start slowly stocking. This is eventually going to be a sps dominant reef tanks, so everything needs to be reef-safe. What are the thoughts about the following plan?
Mimic tang x1
Kole tang x1
Yellow tang x1
6 line wrasse x1
Firefish x3
Blue damselfish x3
Bali lunate anthias x7
Blue green chromis x7
Ochrestriped cardinalfish x3
Picasso percula clownfish x1

3 Tangs in that foot print may cause some serious aggression between them. If it was me I would just get the Kole Tang out of those 3. Everything else looks like a great start.

Thank you, I have been nervous about 3 tangs. Why the Kole over the others?

i'd avoid the sixline and get a bunch of fairy/flasher wrasses instead

if you want pest eating wrasses, the pink streaked would substitute nicely
I really like that idea. I am going to do it. Will the pink streaked shoal?

negative, only get 1. wrasses don't pair, they eventually turn male and males fight each other to the death usually

if you look at the top of this forum, there's a bunch of wrasse pinned threads. special attention to the all about reef safe wrasses and the cirrhilabrus threads.

if you want semi schooling fish anthias and chromis are the way to go. most think they stop schooling/schoaling in aquariums because they figure out there aren't any predators in there, though. you can keep a whole load of chrysiptera damsels but they don't really school. there are some other social fish, but won't really school

looking over your list, i missed the 3 firefish and 3 bangaii cardinals. only get 1-2 firefish max and 2 bangaiis max. bangaiis will definitely pair off and kill other bangaiis. firefish males will fight to the death and there's no real way to sex them, so it's hard to find a pair other than blind luck

Kole Tangs generally are more laid back, and I personally like the color better. You also see less of the Kole then you do the yellow as it seems everyone has a yellow so it’s just a bit different. As for eating algae the Kole and the Yellow are the same they both with spend all day grazing over your rock work.
I have two Yellows, a Scopas, and a Sailfin in my 12 foot 600 gallon
I have a Kole, and a Tomi in my 6 foot 240 gallon
I have a Purple in my 5 foot 100 gallon

Out of my Tang list I only regret the Scopas as he is the smallest of my Tang Gang and the meanest.
