Thank you BigMo, I am going to start filling it soon, waiting on di filter and I am waiting for good deal, many more pictures of progress to come....
Definitely looking forward for your coming pictures. I wish I was there to see it fill up in person. It must feel great. Good luck.
actually I am pretty scared, it is big tank and that's a lot of water.. I am hoping that everything will go smoothly...
I’m sure everything will go smoothly, I have some suggestions:
1- I would suggest to fill it up in different steps, and give it a few hours between each step. I would divide it to 4 or 5 steps.
2- please don’t let your children stand next to your tank while you test it, it is very dangerous. (15 years ago I had a 550 gallon tank and for the test phase I filled it up completely(didn’t go step by step), everything was fine for about half an hour and then suddenly one of the glasses exploded and I mean EXPLODED, very scary).
I didn’t say that to make you feel bad, just want you to be CAUTIOUS, my experience was for 15 years ago and it was a faulty manufacturing glass, I’m sure you will be fine my friend.
Best of luck to you.
Wow...awesome mega build love the scape nice work!!!
I was looking for material that I can use in my sump to keep my rocks elevated so that I can install power heads to shake up the detritus that will be getting accumulated over the time without me moving the rocks. FRP materials is something that I had in my mind and I wanted to make sure that I can something strong, made out of FRP and 1 size for stability and of course at the right price, so past week I bought these grates which are sold by zoro on jet.com for 36 bucks each with free shipping if I bought 2 pcs. So I bought it and I was afraid that they will be flimsy and weak, I got the delivery today and I am pretty impressed about the material, size and how well it is built. I might buy more of these to make cat walk to mount corals, we will see but these are what I am going to use in my sump and I am using 1.5 " street tee that will go under this and rock will sit on these grates, pumps will move water on the rock and under these grates to keep everything suspended. more pictures will be loaded when I add rock to the sump later this week..

When I filled my 800 for the first time (with freshwater to test), I was *terrified*. All the creaking and noises and the thought of that much weight sitting in front of me. I was standing in the fishroom, behind the tank, and suddenly into my brain popped this image. The image was the back legs of the stand buckling, and the whole thing sliding backwards and bisecting me.
I wouldn't go back in the fish room for 2 weeks. No lie. I just left it there to sit that long just to be sure.
WOW !!! Amazing build. Following along>>>>
