Hi all,

Just started my fluval flex 34 build. I like the challenge of a nano reef so after months of discussion with my partner she has finally allowed me to add another aquarium to the house!

This is the scape let me know what you think.

Very nice sam Good use of rock in that limited space,
Plenty of places for frags.
I have also just got a fluval 34. "On sale in uk" I used some rock from my existing
marine tank so hopefully no spkes. Wll add a small goby and
shrimp latter with corals. What are you doing for lighting, filteration etc?
Will follow this thread :)

Got mine on sale to from maidenhead aquatics! I've had success with the sea evo so I thought I would try an even smaller tank. I've learnt from the sea evo that a good size weekly water change Is enough to keep the nitrates low providing I clean the filter sponge weekly and feed every 3 days, so I will do the same with this one. I will cut a square out of the middle of the lid so I can keep the rear sump covered and definitely block the lower slots on the rear wall so the filter surface skims better.

Full list of equipment,

Ehime compact 600 pump.
AI Prime 16HD.
TMC reef tide 4000.
D-d temp controller with titanium heater 50w.
D-d H2Ocean ATO.
Caribsea fuji pink live sand.
If it needs it a D-d 4 channel pro doser but hopefully water changes will be enough.

Will be cycling the tank on the standard light, light upgrade will come once I add corals.

Stock will be a pair of clowns platinum or frostbite, 1 emerald crab and a couple of turbo snails.

I will update the thread as and when I change things.

Have you found any issues with yours as of yet?

Tank and salt finally showed up today but no sand. Went with the tropic marin pro reef salt based on the BRS review. Will be the first time of mixing my own salt as I normally buy it premixed.

Tried the rock work that I pre made but I'm not 100% sure on it now. Hopefully someone can share their opinion.

I like the rock, and I like the Flex 9! I've had mine going for about 7 months now and it's doing well, so I'm anxiously following along.

I switched to the inTank tower in mine. It blocks the lower intake and better distributes the flow into the second chamber. I also ditched the sponge, added the inTank chamber 2 and filled it with MarinePure Gems.

I was thinking about buying the basket for chamber 1 but I'm going to block the lower intake from inside the chamber and add a drilled pice of acylic in the top of chamber 1 to hold filter floss that I can easily change every couple of days.

My plan for chamber 2 is to leave it empty if possible, if I do need to run midea in it I will literally hang a bag on the side of chamber 2. That way I should be able to easily keep the nitrates low. It will take a good 6 months to get the stability but will be worth it in the long run with ease of maintenance.

Thought I should update this thread, decided to build a new sacape as I didn't like the first one I built. Pictures don't show it very well but it has a lot of negative space and over hangs. Water will be going in the tank tomorrow.

I’m lookin for a light upgrade as well and can’t find many options.what are you going with
No options really if you want to keep the lid. If you ditch the lid, the options are endless. I started with the Fluval Marine Nano 3.0 (decent), then moved to a Kessil A80 (good), then eventually landed on a Prime 16HD (best).

After many months of looking at my fluval flex and not being happy with it I decided to upgrade to a waterbox 10.... I kept the same rock work and sand but totally new equipment and stand. After changing the tank the ugly stage has started again it must be the silicates in the new tank.

Tanks looking good!! Following along - Any plans for more live stock? The rock scape looks really nice and has room for different things to go on both the lower side of the rock (Such as NPS coral) and on top of the rocks branches.
