I’ve been fighting a tube sponge that keeps smothering my corals. It’s spread now to the sump, I know of no predators to these… anyone successfully eradicate them, and how ?

they are long and tube like, they smother my Zoas and outcompete them. I’ve isolated and knocked it off but it keeps coming back.

I’ll dump chemicals if I need to, I haven’t yet had the need but this is getting ridiculous

I literally just super glued my entire zoa garden down, in frustration due to the urchins redecorating every night and now I will have to tear down a ton of crap to get them out and still regrows after a month. I did the whole wrasse thing for pests but who is lucky enough to attract zoa eating sponges :(

Poriferan type clatharina often ends up in zoa colony and under large pieces of rock. With my most recent episode with this sponge, I took a dental pick (4 pack from harbor freight) and place it in a container of tank water and gentle pulled most if it off and injected remaining with vinegar- All gone now

I’ve “eradicated them” once already, came in on the mandarin frag still on the rack and I thought I had destroyed it. I will definitely try the dental pick/vinegar route.

what is recommendation on a vinegar filled syringe and possibly injecting them? Would it affect Zoa colony or worth a shot? I just reeeeeally don’t want to lose the Armageddon and Yodas and of course I placed them closest to mandarins -.-
