Spikey something growing all over my tank

HI All,

Any idea what this stuff is and if I should be worried about it? Seems to grow best when protected so maybe some of my fish are eating it (6 line or filefish?)

Made the trunk of my hammer look crazy! and its on all the rock too.

Looks like a ton of vermetid snails. They can irritate corals if they are growing too close.
