Hi all,

Attaching here what I am fairly sure is a spheromatid isopod. I know many fear cirolanid isopods hitchhiking into your tank from gulf rocks, myself included. But also worth knowing that not all isopods are the bad guys.

I occasionally find these stuck in my filter floss, which is where this specimen was retrieved. Note the eyes are a bit further apart and less sinister looking than the cirolanids (pasted below) and the spheromatid isopods can curl like a roly poly. I understand that these are good guys. So, watch your fish for isopods that attach and check any that you can find for parasite-like behavior and those evil eyes!
