It seems like alot of people have issues with tanks overheating in the summer months. I know I've had my fair share of issues.
I have used JBJ chillers and also evaporative cooling fans on my tank. The JBJ chillers are awesome but use a ton of power and heat up my sump room which causes a positive feed back loop causing it to always run. Which was killing me slowly with the electric bill climbing during the summer months.

I always found the cooling fans to be too small to be really effective for ones that are sold online. They also have issues of taking up outlets and So I had a thought why not design and build my own?

I came up with this solution, a dual 120mm fan system that plugs into a USB port.
This allowed me to plug into my hydros system which would allow for temperature regulation through the USB port on my hydros outlet strip.

Here are some photos of it in action with my frag tank. It works so well! My 32 gallon frag tank went from running at close to 82 degrees to a cool consistent 79 degrees.
Let me know what y'all think or how I could improve it.

Sincerely,
Reefer Mokes

I've ways wondered if an IceProbe chiller in an AquaClear filter would cool off a small tank

If it would be enough

It would be cheap and quiet, if it worked

I haven't tried those but they are pretty pricey for their function, I've heard they max out after a certain tank size since the fan used to cool the probe is so small, maybe I will try to recreate of of those next! Thanks for the Idea
