So, I’ve been at this lifestyle for over 10 years and until the past year I’ve always had HOB equipment. Now I have a 90G display picture framed in the wall with a 75G sump/fuge. Wondering what other lifers fuge looks like. My Cheato grows like weeds and the Copepods are taking over the Cheato and Miracle Mud. Feedback? Pics attached

I'm 10 years in as well, my fuge is pretty old and disgusting ;) but I don't have much for pictures of it, just thisView attachment 2010729
Thanks Kenny! I don’t have very good pictures of mine either. It’s only lit in the off hours of the display but yours definitely has more color than mine for sure. I’m sure 10 years vs 1 year has to be a fuge difference. Lol
Pun Intended sry

That looks similar to the southern weedfish we get here. I love the look of your fuge.

IMO I want my refugium to be an ecosystem (I am an ecologist after all) so I've got a range of macro algae, live rock, oyster shell. It's still early days but P and N are in check and macro is growing well.

Mine is about a year old and 20g in size. It is covered in tisbe pods and breeding snails.

Several types of macro and some rock but you can’t see it as it’s thick.

I vacuum out the sump every 4-6 weeks. Am I losing the benefit of the sump or am I promoting the growth of the macro’s and micro organisms that I am introducing?
Thats debatable. Mine is really dirty and I like it that way. The only cleaning it really gets is occasionally I'll blow the detritus around with a turkey baster so the corals in my display can eat it. But I know most people like to keep it all nice and shiny

Looks like from the pics you are lighting the fuge with LED’s. Care to share the specifics and lighting schedule!

they are 4 nanobox pucks but any decent light for growing coral will do.

11pm to 9am Blue 80 percent and White 75 percent

I miss nanobox

Mine was just crazy with pods before I gave it to my sister. She let it go. I left for 6 months and when I returned it was a mess.

My clowns and mandarin never required feeding because they seemed to feed on the copepod population that kept respawning.
