so yesturday my bud came over and did some water testes. we used his hannah checker and 0.6 po4. the crazy this is that i have no symptions of po4 being that high..

SPS has great color getting growth
No nuisance algae

i'm running cal rx; cheato; oversize skimmer; BP (although i need to add some more)

here's the latest pic of the tank

whats going on. this is weird.. one thing my friend mentioned is to not just drop my frozen foods into the water, but to let it melt and drain it and then put it into the tank..

Yep let it melt and drain also feed in batches.

You will prob get better growth once you get phosphates lower as phosphates inhibit calcification

Depending where live rock came from. If it was a tank with high phosphates or dead rock that wasn't cleaned properly it could be leaching from there

Also every once in awhile blow off your live rock with a pump

It is possible your tester is bad.

But another possiblity is you have lots of grazers so they would trim the algae back.

I have seen tanks that were tied together with the same sump and one tank is covered with algae and the other has zero. Difference was one tank had lots of grazers and the other did not.

The tester isn't bad. I did the test, and thought the same thing. So I went home and tested my tank and got my typical results.

those checkers work great. the problem was first reagents and typical test procedure errors.

You have a lot of tangs and they are taking care of business otherwise you would likely see algae issues. Lowering the P04 will help bring out the color of your SPS.

Yep, those Hanna checkers are junk. There have been some pretty reliable tests proving this. They only seem to "work" when the user gets the reading they are looking for.
