I’m researching options for an inline pump for use in water changes.

The plan is to fit the pump to the exterior of my 25 gallon RODI reservoir (I have a 25 gallon polyethylene tank) and plumb it to fill my water mixing container for manual water changes. Space is very limited (otherwise I’d have gone with a 2 tank, automated solution), the pump will only be used when I need to transfer water for water changes, and as such, I really only need a small pump to satisfy my needs.

Pumps I have considered:
  • Innovative Marine Mighty Jet Mini (or Desktop): Best form factor as these are tiny, but no documentation that says it can be used inline. Will it leak?
  • Sicce Syncha Silent 1.0: Cheaper than the IM, product info says it can be used in-line, but doesn’t seem to have the fittings to support schedule 40/80 plumbing (more work in case the pump needs adapters to plumb).
  • Eheim Universal 1200: Good old reliable, but larger than I’d prefer.
Ultimately, the Sicce might be the right product, but I’d be happy to entertain recommendations. Thanks!
