When you put lots of money and time into something, it can be scary to think of something happening to it! There is no denying that a common reef-keeping stressor is worrying about your tank's health unraveling. But sometimes, the worry goes a little too far...My most recent tank nightmare was LAST NIGHT! I was able to breathe a sigh of relief when I woke up and found my fish were, in fact, not all dead.

Oh heck yes. My ex used to always go on about how if the tank ever leaked, the entire thing was going directly in the trash and I was never allowed to have another fish tank for the rest of my life. When we would start the dishwasher and go to bed I would wake up in cold sweats hearing that water splashing around and dreaming that one of the glass panels blew out of my tank.

Had previously bought a 275g that was sold as a fully-functional tank, got it home and it started leaking heavily after a few days. Got that mess cleaned up and had it resealed. Get it home after reseal and a week later it bursts and I have 300 gallons of water on the floor and throughout my house. I now have an acrylic 450 and I still listen to it every night to see if it's running right. I've woken from a dead sleep numerous times thinking it has started leaking or it might burst again. I've considered getting rid of the 450 it bothers me so much sometimes, but then I come home from work and admire the tank all over again and realize I don't want to get rid of it.

I just set up a new 180 gallon tank in my family room. I didn’t sleep well the first few nights worrying about whether I was going to wake up to a flood of water everywhere. I don’t remember having these worries with my 100 gallon, but a 6 foot long tank just feels that much scarier at first.

All the typical ones! But I've also had an irrational fear while awake...
My tank is in my classroom at school. When I'm not there, I have a camera on it. One day, I checked the camera and it was disconnected, and I feared that it was flooding and caused an electrical short. Thennnnn I hear fire trucks going by (I live right by the school), so in my head my tank just caused the entire school to go up in flames.
Spoiler alert: It didn't.

I've got this nightmare once of my tall reef tank falling over off of its stand onto the floor with water, sand, rock, fish, hardware, and cords going everywhere. I genuinely thought it was real and was ready to kms until I woke up and realized.

I haven't yet, but I probably will. Over the last 10 years I have vivid dreams almost every night. My last one turned me into a Vampire. He was SO rude! He just left me to figure out the rules on my own!

The visual of that is very funny to me, the tank just falls forward off the stand for no reason :face-with-tears-of-joy:

I had one two days ago. It was actually pretty prescient.

The tank is a project between my dad and me. Sometimes, when I'm not around, he lets the water level in the sump get a little low because he did not top it off enough. This has led to the pump taking in air.

Because this has already happened a couple of times, I've grown paranoid. While I was sleeping the night of the 15-16th, I had a dream that the pump blew and I needed to rework the plumbing on my tank. I was working but the connections kept leaking. Then I looked up and saw 90% of the water had drained out of the display. That sight freaked me out but then made me realize that would be impossible because of the way the tank is designed. I realized I was dreaming.

I woke up and texted my dad reminding him that we needed to be careful about the pump dying.

The next morning, he texted me saying that the pump died in the night and then"exploded" when he tried to turn it back on. When I came by later with a new pump from my LFS, he was right. The pump had "exploded." The return chamber and a small part of the refugium had bits of melted plastic and epoxy in it I had to clean.

Probably the scariest dream coincidences of my life. I had a nightmare about the pump failing and killing my tank. That night the pump died and almost killed my tank.

Mines always about my tank tipping over lol. Probably because I built the stand myself. It's definitely solid I've even tested haha.

My last tank's seals completely failed. I am still in the process of building my new setup. I am only a month out from adding water to the new tank and I keep getting thoughts about my new tank failing too. My last tank was only 42gallons the new one is twice that size. That is a lot of water.
