Hello

I have just installed the sump upgrade kit for my Red Sea aquarium, and the skimmer, which was in the rear sump before, is so high and clumsy in the in-cabinet sump.

Can you recommend a in-sump skimmer for a 50 gallon tank, and as silent as possibly? (I think one with a DC pump would be the best choice)

Reef octopus has great skimmers. Try running it part time to reduce noise

Thank you. It just seems that reef octopus only have skimmers for bigger tanks :(

I've also gone with the E170 Max sump upgrade. I love the form factor of this tank.

I went with the Red Sea DC300 Skimmer which is quiet, and being new to reefing the probe monitor helped me a ton in setting it up right.

I've taken a crude video so you can hear the skimmer in action.

That's right my tanks currently in the garage . Currently cycling while some work gets done on the house.

On my similar sized tank I ran a Tunze 9004 for years. It was an AC version. I gave the setup to a friend and he is still running it. It must be 10+ years old now. My next tank was a 40 gallon, I used the 9004DC. Loved it. My favorite skimmer ever.

My current tank is smaller, I use a 9001DC, but if I had another tank in that size range I’d use a Tunze 9004 dc.
