I'm unsure really lol. So it's behavior is very odd, but keep in mind it's still pretty bleached. It deflates rapidly and reinflates all in about a couple min period. No discharge, the water in qt is crystal clear always. Also at times it'll bury it's mouth into a ceramic bowl that is in the tank with it. We're under the assumption that it's trying absorb zoox through the water column but i was previously using freshly made water. I'm now using water directly from my nem/mag tank to see if that helps it's behavior. I have cipro on standby if needed but I don't believe it has an infection.

I'm debating doing a zoox from one of my mags if that's possible. Anyone know if you can use a mag to do a zoox transplant? I know they're closely related, but not sure how I could do it if possible lol.

I began treating it last night. I'm also looking to begin a small feeding later tonight right before I do my 100% water change

I would not feed him. It seems that if they are infected, feeding, which will increase the nutrient level inside the anemones, seem to make them worst. Much more likely to deflated, then regurgitated undigested food.

Soon after I posted I paused and tossed out that idea.

What is your thoughts on a zoox transplant using a mag? I seriously highly doub't that's even possible nor am I willing to try it, but just curious. Something to add to the discussion.

He definitely needs to recover some before I transplant is feasible. With mags and gigs being closely related is a zoox transplant possible between the 2 species or is the genetic makeup to different? Does the DNA of the donating species even matter since zoox is mostly universal?

I'm jealous of your gig, actually all your gigs lol.

Zooxanthellae population is diverse even in the same species of host. I think if you gave the same species, then I would use that as the donor. If not some other species is OK, IMO.

So an update, on day 3 of cipro he's looking better, hasnt deflated since day 2 and very responsive and sticky. I'll continue the cipro regiment for another 4 days then assess whether he's good to move to his own tank. I'm not going to put him in the mag tank till he's bigger and stronger. He's still pretty bleached but it's gaining some brownish color back into his pedal. I'm keeping the lights low to not stress him more.

Thank you. They're so relaxing to watch, just rhythmically swaying in the current lol.

I also have an RRC flame tip BTA. But he's in the frag tank. I've only had him about a month. He's about 5" and his purpose is to keep the clowns from hosting my Tck master torch colony lol. Hopefully more green will come back into his tentacles soon.

So an update on my little gig in qt. He's recovered very well. Tonight will be his last cipro dose. He's still very bleached but is about ready for his own tank. Before the start of cipro medicating and using amoo's Nem grading scale, I would rate his health a 6-7. After 7 days of cipro I would now rate his health 0-1. I'll post pics tomorrow once he's moved into his new tank. I'm going to setup a 10 gallon tank with rock, skimmer, filtration since I will begin feeding him in this tank. If the 10 gallon tank becomes too cramped/too little volume due to feeding then I'll setup my 20 gallon long for him in lieu of the 10 gallon.
