One of my favorite corals in this hobby is mushrooms. They come in many different colors and can get quite large, too. I want to see who has the most giant mushrooms here. Share with us those giant mushrooms you have in your tank! Photo Credit: @rcpalmer1

This mass of mushrooms has 10 individual shrooms(the colony is partially under an overhang, so photographing all of them is difficult). The largest is probably 3.5-4 inches across, with all of them being 2+ inches.

These aren’t the largest at 2” each, but they are still stunning to look at:

Got a question about mushrooms. I believe another thread concerning mushrooms and the difficulty level inherent in their removal from rock.

1.) Is this one of life's great truths and if so
2.) Is this a property of pretty much all mushrooms?

It won't inhibit my wish to have a few, but it seems that I may need to plan it out a tad more comparitively.....

Our mushroom came on a tiny rock and a frag plug. We have yet to remove both from the mushroom!

Yes, like all anemones mushrooms have a strong foot they use to attach to a surface. physically removing them can badly damage the coral and even kill it.

So am I right about the difficulty level? Am I thinking of the correct coral?
I think so. I've just been cautious about removing the mushroom from the rock itself because I fear I might kill it in the process.
