Hey Reefers, I had another thread posted similar to this earlier this week but my fish store closes soon and nobody is responding in my old thread so hoping this one gets more traction right away. Don't know if this is an annoying thing to do to make another thread but I really need an answer soon. I have a Red Sea Reefer 250 G2+ 65 gallon system. I am using the Red Sea Reef Mature program and have been dosing everything and testing everything as intended. I tested the water Wednesday Day 10 and these were the results:
Ammonia: 0.3
Nitrite: 0.05
Nitrate: Seemed 40-50 on the color scale (hard to figure out)
The kit told me the ammonia needed to be zero at this stage and the nitrate also zero, so I was sort of worried. In the previous thread I was told just to wait and keep going with the program with some other suggestions and if nothing changed I would try something like Fritz. Today is day 14 and did a 5% water change then tested again. Results:
Ammonia: 0.2
Nitrite: 0.1
Nitrate: 23.6 (I bought a new hanna checker so I think the other test was not well calibrated earlier)
Ammonia has obviously been going down then. So onto the problem. I just need to ask if I can put 2 clowns into my tank today? On day 14 I am supposed to put in a fish for every 25 gallons. Obviously a hardy fish. Would this be an ok idea? I would like to finally have something to look at in my tank anyways.
Would this also cause an ammonia spike to where the fish can't handle it?
Would this help cycle the tank?
Thank you for the feedback beforehand!
