I got a free Winged Sea Hare from a LFS for spending an amount of $ - nice! - but now that I have it home and am doing my research I'm not sure I should add it to my DT.

I've got algae it can chew on and plenty of space - but not sure if I should risk the ink/poison.

The owner has had them in their frag tanks without any issues and thinks I should be fine.

Do I or don't I?

I've moved it into a QT tank and have been shuffling it around with a straw - no poison or ink so far - seems pretty chill / docile
Don't hv personal experience. I hv read that They may starve when they r out of the algae so assure u hv plenty of algae. If they feel threatened, then they will release their ink. But, I hv read that noone had suffered from this so u can shift it to dt if u hv algae. Purple ink is not toxin but your protein skimmer will overflow. I hope someone with their experience will guide u more correctly.

All the best!
