Does anyone know what’s going on with my starfish? Is this normal? Any input is appreciated.

Check your nitrate and phosphate levels as well as PH level. Assure food supply as tank looks awfully clean

just checked them and ph is 8.2, po3 is o.12 and nitrates are ~15. I give him food directly twice a day and he scavenges everything up after feeing my fish.

Ok good. The ammonia is the only concern I see as you want to be no higher than .050. Try Very GENTLE burst from turkey baster and see if this film separates from the star

Ammonia is at 0.06. So not super high but higher than it should be. Are stars more susceptible to ammonia?

Nitrate than ammonia but if nitrate high, ammonia is often elevated
