Thought it would be a cool idea to share PS actions we may use with each other.

I am finding some I use right quick to post up.

yeah id love to except adobe totaly slammed me in the middle of my trip.

I have a full version of PS CS3 for my PC and switched to MAC.

You can call them, and they will give you a new reg number and what not for MAC if you own the PC version.

They gave it to me, and it worked for an additional 30 days and then rejected me.

I called them, and they told me i would now have to purchse the full version again.

So basically im totaly screwed.

and now have no actions i can use either.

I had to buy the lame version of elements (comparing to CS3) just to do what i could with my shots from KC.

Sorry for the rant, and back to our regular programming.

I totally posted the wrong thing before. I don't use any actions, but I am curious to find out more about them.

Not sure how many of you have been to Fred Miranda.com but they have some great actions. They do cost money but I have the B&W and SmartSharpen actions and they are great. Saves me all sorts of time.

I have a bunch of others on my work computer so I will post those when I get in on Monday.

Aperture is a great program that I use all the time. Its great for editing (especially in RAW) and has very powerful organization and backup abilities. Plus you can create web galleries in Aperture and export directly to your .mac homepage very easily. I really like the program as you can probably tell. :D

Attached are the main actions I use in Photoshop.

The bottom line goal is to crop, resize, and add a border to the photo.

The main two I use are called:
Resize-1024 Border SaveAs
and
Resize-1280 Border SaveAs

There are 8 actions in there. Most call themselves. But I have them broken out so that I can apply them to other sized photos besides just 1024 and 1280 easily.

My typical post-production procedure is:
  1. Crop photo
  2. Optional - If there is too much blue, Auto-Level (white balancing) the photo (Ctrl-Shift-L). Especially if there is white in the photo to help Auto-Level work better (frag plug, eggcrate, etc.). If it looks more realistic and true to the coral, keep the Auto-Level in place. Otherwise, Ctrl-Z
  3. Click one of those two above actions
The "Saving As" options include .jpg at highest quality (10) *and* to keep the EXIF data intact. I think this is overlooked many times when one does a 'save for web'. By default, 'save for web' removes EXIF data to save those extra 8 bytes of download. But more often then not, I'm curious in my own photo's what the camera settings were. And especially when it's a flash shot, it's nice to be able to show that.

If you try these actions, one step will bark at you. This is the storage location of where to save the photo's. As I doubt your username is the same as mine, it'll say it cannot find the output folder. After choosing a new one, I believe PS is smart enough to remember that location for the next time.

Enjoy!
