So I did some research but didn't find this exact question answered. My current 120g has about 3 fish and a few soft corals. Tank is only 6 months old. Can't see Ich at the moment but I know it's there. Going to be selling 120g and getting a rimless 90g shallow tank. So this is what I was thinking.
1. Move all rock/coral into a bin.
2. Move fish to a QT tank and treat with copper etc for 30 days.
3. Move new tank into place.
4. Use some of the old water and a few cups of sand to seed the new sand for the new tank. Fill the rest with new water.
5. Move all rock and coral into new tank and let sit fallow for 77 days.
6. After 30 days move fish to another temporary tank during the new 90g tank's 77 day fallow stage.

But this new temporary tank for the fish won't have any live rock with bacteria. So just control ammonia etc with frequent water changes?

Sound about right? And no new fish without quarantining!! TIA!

Don’t see the value in old sand or water, it’s the rock that you want to reuse.
Otherwise looks fine to me.
You can reduce 77 days to about 45 days with increase in temp but read up on that in stickies if you go that way.
Me, I waited the 77 at normal DT running temp.
