I have a seneye I got to use as a par meter. I got it, installed the software and it worked. Now a few months later when I actually wanted to use it the software loads the flash screen then disappears.

I was old to install it without any firewall(not happy about doing that) and still nothing.

Now I have contacted seneye support and they have suggested remote control of my PC but they keep suggested the same appointment time I can not make and after a week Im sick of it.

Does anyone know how to make this stupid thing work?

I've had sporadic, and unsolved issues w/ seneye for a long time.
From the sensor not transferring data to software crashes ( like above) on loading.

Best "fix" is just uninstall and reinstall the software.
Oddly I also solved it by turning computer on and off again ( universal fix .lol)

Seems ( with absolutely no proof and very little understanding of how it works) a USB/software issue.

Oh, don't have the seneye plugged into the USB port.

I've has issues on a Windows tablet, a laptop, and a full tower computer.
Never got it to not eventually work but can be a lot of trial and error.

One hint is to remove it from "startup"

Yes "fixing" it is as confusing as it sounds...for me
ymmv.

Well for fun I just tried to load the desktop.
software loaded fine.
Hooked SUD to it.
Recognized but zero data (PAR didn't respond to flashlight)
Tried a few different USB ports.. same thing.. nothing.

Turned it off/on again w/ SUD in usb port.
Launched Seneye software.

Works fine..

Though the error is different than what you are dealing with and what I deal with w/ a laptop and Win tablet (mostly) the point is it can be real touchy..

Anyways my Seneye is at least 4-5 yrs old.
It has gotten a bit pickier over time though the tablet was always an issue.

One thing.. If windows has an update pending that is always a possible source of issues..

Yeah I tried restarting, I tried reinstalling, I tried reinstalling and running it with windows defender off and all that with no change.

The laptop Im using it on only has two USB ports and ive tried both.

When I plug it in the light comes on so its definitely connected. But when I open the program it just shows the flash screen and disappears. Nothing is running in the task manager or anything.

I ordered a USB adapter so Ill try it on my phone and tablet now I guess.

Ive had the thing for 2 years so I could use it to tune my new build and now that I actually want to use it...this. Uggg.

I was having this same issue, do you have a new slide in it? I don't keep it running regularly and finally dug out a new slide and after it finally registered there was a new one in there it started working. Took about 30 min from the fresh slide activation to get it functional.

Think it is windows only.
First thing( obviously) is to get the software running.
I wouldn't even try to plug the sud into USB till that is accomplished.
NOTE: Apparently you can ignore the above statement....

Oddly enough..testing today software on tablet and desktop loaded fine.
Annoyingly neither transferred data when sud was plugged in.
Both functioned 100% on reboot with sud in USB port and when booted starting software.

Sorry I actually having a hard time getting your issue ATM.
First launch of seneye software on tablet did hesitate.

The issue is when I click the connect app icon on the desktop (or launch directly from the folder) I get a Logo for the connect app pop up for about half a second then it disappears. Nothing else happens. The program does not run.

I know..software crashing on loading as I understand it.
I was trying to duplicate your issue since I've also had that problem.
I also have a secondary issue which got me distracted..sorry.

Ahh I see, no worries. Yeah I have no idea how to duplicate it. I cant seem to find any reference to this issue.

And totally understand distractions, this thread is mine for the morning!

Right click on the icon and choose "run as administrator". Been in IT for almost 30 years. It's a long shot, but....

I've also seen that in virus programs. It will flash theoad screen and boom, gone. If your virus program has it marked as a threat. Might want to look and see.

I suspect something in either the software or firmware in the SUD.

The above " flash" then off mostly occurred for me with a Windows tablet.
The other issue of the sud pretending to hook up may be a USB issue.
Today as I played with it on my desktop (which used to work fine 80% of the time just simply refused to transfer data to the software.
SUD registered in windows under " printers"
as 2.0.simething but refused to send temp or light data over.
I even tried to remove it from " printers" and then replug it to re- register.
Well THAT really broke it.

Software wouldn't hook back up.
A " turn it off and on again" finally fixed it 2 seperate times.

I did communicate all my issues w/ Seneye but they were clueless.

This has been one of the worst pieces of hardware I've run into in a long time.
If it was one system, fine. But 3?
And 3 sets of very different hardware.
In the old days I'd just chuck it and get something that " works". Never fight with hardware, just replace it.

Now that said it does seem quite uncommon though and unlike the o/p I could always.....eventually....get it to work be it reinstalls, off/on again, or unplug/ plug/switch USB ports.

Yeah, that's sounding more like a windows update and a driver issue. Printers are notorious for creating virtual USB ports and you never know which on to print to, lol.

I wonder if Seneye might have changed something when PARwise came out? PARwise is 100% web based though. I take it the Seneye is actual Windows software?

Yes....there is a web console though
Thing is, if I remember correctly, if data isn't t collected/updated though the windows program it has nothing to feed to the web.
I honestly don't know if Seneye software needs to be running to feed it.
I rarely used the web based part.

Ahhh the old days when one could always blame windows for programs/programmers that took shortcuts or orphaned their stuff.. :)

Well it took me 3 weeks to get an appointment for support. The guy was 30 minutes late and spent the next 30 minutes doing even less that I had already done before simply saying "something is keeping it from running"

NO KIDDING!

His advice was to do a fresh install of windows without virus protection and try again.

How about no.

In a last ditch effort I got a cable to try and use it on my phone only to find their app is made for an older version of android and will not run on my phone.

Well that was a great waste of money and time, into the trash it goes.

I don't think you should throw it away. His bedside manner could have been better I'm sure, but it is definitely something driver / usb port related. Do you have another PC you could try it on? A friend's or?

Refresh my memory, what version of Windows is this?

Try UN-installing it & reloading , maybe it just needs updated upload?

I spent around 20 hours on the phone, installing and reinstalling, trying different ports, different phones, tablets and computers.

Never got it working on anything.

The only reason I got it was for PAR measurements so I got an Apogee meter and called it done.
