Good evening fellow reefers!!! This patch just erupted on my Semilavartus butterfly. It is now scraping and twitching trying to get the annoyance off. Appetite is decreased as well. Spent 38 days in QT with CP at 2.5. No issues. No spots anywhere. All other fish are completely healthy. There has been no fighting or picking by other fish, this guy was well received. Any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance.

With the flashing or scratching, I wonder:

Did you treat for flukes?

I'm very fortunate. I actually have two and they get along well.

Re: PraziPro- how many days/treatments would you recommend? A single treatment or treat every 5-7 days until its gone, or treat 28 days, etc.?

Thank you again

3 treatments, 8 days apart with good aeration, not just circulation. Remove carbon, run any skimmer, but don’t collect any skimmer. I like to do a 25% water treatment before the second and third treatments.

Thank you Jay, I'll add a small aerating wand.

Already got him in QT with Prazipro going. Appreciate the help.

Agree with scratching leading to injury.
Is fish eating and breathing normal?

Hey all. Thanks for the reply. Butterfly is in QT with Prazi and CP. The lesion is getting worse and growing by the day. Fish is not eating at this time. Could it be bacterial? I have Nitrofurazone on hand. I think I will add to the mix. Let me know your thoughts.

Thank you.

There is a lesion on one of the pectoral fins as well as behind the eye. Could this really be from scratching?

Not eating anymore. Breathing is heavy, but made it through the night and all day today. In QT with prazi and CP. Could this be bacterial? Lesion is worsening on Prazi. Aeration wand is pumping along with good flow. Temp is perfect and not fluctuating. Parameters are excellent. I have Nitrofurazone on hand. Thinking of adding to the mix. Thoughts?

Please provide updated pics under white light intensity.
What is current ammonia and how much CP was added to how many gallons?

If the lesion is growing, then it sounds infected. Nitrofurazone isn’t my top choice as a general antibiotic, but a lot of people use it.
