overfeed a bit and turn on the powerheads higher or more aggressively, briefly without running the return. the clowns wont eat everything and the increased water movement should cut the surface tension and allow the food to sink
Don’t have that kind of control when I’m on vacation. There’s no apex or anything.

can you at least turn your return off when you feed?

for how much money in coral you have in the tank, an apex would be a smart choice. things fail and you mentioned travel(you wouldn't believe what I've had happen while traveling!).

I have 2200g bucket New Life Spectrum small pellets. I'll be more than happy to send some. They're slow sinking. I put it near good flow area. All my fish loves them including my starry blenny

what do you have in your tank that eats algae?

Right now I have 2 tangs, a bristletooth and a lieutenant tang, 5 mexican turbo snails, 1 tuxedo urchin, maybe 5-6 emerald crabs, 6-7 trochus snails - the 4 I had, had babies... maybe 30 astrea snails, 1 cleaner shrimp, 1 peppermint shrimp, unknown number of nassarius and cerith snails (maybe 10 or so of each, or more idk)

I know they all don't eat algae, but that's my current clean up crew in the 90g.

I'm overloaded with pods of all types. common bristle worms, some peanut worms also. Also asternia starfish

did you put in those pods? i ask because they do different things and occupy different zones

I have no bristleworms, peanut worms, starfish (besides one small brittle), etc

unless your tank is young, i would say you are probably feeding too much if you have algae in a 90 with all that.

for reference your tank is 4.5x the size of mine and you're clean up crew is probably 10x+ the size of mine

Yeah, I stocked originally with Algaebarn galaxy pods. Maybe 12-16 jars or more but in our old 65g then another 8 jars once I transferred to the 90g. I have copepods, isopods, amphipods, and a lot of them.

Tank is about 10 months old now with transfer from the 65g. If I just take the age of the 90 and not consider that part of its age, it's about 4 months old. I transferred everything from our 65g in March this year.

That would be amazing. I’ll DM you
OK. Once I know your address, I vacuum pack and send it to you. I've always use this since I started reefing which is over 10yrs( always learning). The New Life Spectrum Thera A +A has garlic as one of the ingredients. It floats then slowly sinks

Yeah man it sounds like you have all the bases covered but may be over feeding. I’d take a couple hours and really get in there and scrub/manually remove a lot of the algae then do a coral snow treatment.
