Starting rate is in the high 140k yr with raise after probation period of 6months. I'm single and live by my self so no family to come back to.
At the same time, I've lived a quite chaotic life in which the aquarium hobby has been quite helpful in calming me down In alot of aspects of life...so yea...alot to think about.
Sounds an opportunity to me to advance your career and pay. I agree with others that you can always come back to the hobby later.

As you know, reefing is a fun and rewarding hobby, and of course a challenge. Being on the road isn't a fun challenge since it just sucks to come home and have any issues. I had a power head die when I was gone for four days and that was enough to stress and kill some SPS.

You can always come back to reefing and try "hard mode" with a significant other when you aren't single, that is also a fun challenge to say "just one more coral", or "I need the new light and I promise the $900 is a necessary spend". The extra pay will ease those conversations then.

My tank is like a washing machine, my issue is probably mainly the canopy.
Maybe how you are measuring PH is off? Pick up a CO2 meter on amazon and see how much CO2 is in your office. If you have a lot of gas exchange in your tank, but there is a lot of CO2 in the air, you are just putting that in your tank. You did mention that the window was open, so that make me think your PH readings are suspect. My Apex readings are completely different from my Hanna. It could be your water quality, but probably not.

Yeah, I was thinking about both getting a CO2 monitor and also re-calibrating my Apex PH probe. I have a hand held Hanna somewhere too. That definitely needs re-calibration. I decided against the CO2 monitor, because there really isn’t anything else I could do now to lower CO2 anyway.

Looking back at the day I calibrated my PH probe, the PH readings have not shifted. Still could be wrong. I’m curious what the Hanna says. I’ll find it and pickup some Hanna calibration solution.

The Co2 monitor is really for "a piece of mind thing". The same reason I have 4 ways to test salinity... It is just a reference point so you can sleep at night.
As long as PH is 7.8 or higher I can sleep at night. I think the only thing else I could do some day is add one of those house fans which pulls in outside air.

My handheld hanna was the biggest pile of dog doo ever. Also if you dont keep the tip in a solution you bassically have to throw it out. I used to double check with the cheap little api test, it wasnt terrible for a backup.

Since you haven’t used it for a while, let your Hanna soak in a buffer solution for a bit, Before you calibrate it. Also Apex does not use automatic temperature compensation you have to add that in. When I calibrate my PH probe I usually have a 1g tank with a cheap heater in it along with the temp probe and PH probe and the PH packets in them.

I love mine! I do keep a sponge in the bottom of the cap wet with buffer. That being said even it that dries out and I let it soak for a bit. It reads within one point of the test standards. Maybe you got a bum one

I think sodium hydroxide or kalk is the answer.
