Heres the new tank and the one I will be keeping for a while hopefully. Finally sticking to one tank. lol It is 24" x 24" x 12" with 1/2" glass from glass cages with two 1.5" bulk heads offset from the center. One for the overflow and one for the output. Two rock towers will surround the two holes to hide the drain and the output. Tomorrow, I will be building my stand (25" x 25" x 36") and hopefully have it sprayed within a week or two. Once the stand is built I will be talking to an acrylic worker to build me a sump for this bad boy and then I will be going from there.

The main goal of this tank is to have a display completely empty of heaters, power heads and whatnot. That is why the bulk heads are so large. Please give me feedback and ideas of what size pump I should use and what else.

I've been working on the stand already and heres a little teaser of it before completion and painting. I'm gonna have to find someone to build me a sump because I don't think a 20 gallon will fit inside it, and I would like a decent size sump for this tank.

Got the stand finish, now painting it. After i'm done with painting it i'll attached the front door and work on figuring out what I'm gonna use for a sump or finding someone to build me one.

That will be nice great size. Any idea on how your going pipe your return?

The return will be through one of the holes in the bottom of the tank and will have 5 half inch outlets.

You know you have to pipe the return and drain to the top correct???? What size sump you throwing under it?

Yes, otherwise the display will siphon out and just cause a huge problem lol. I really have not looked into pumps yet, but I'm thinking it is gonna be large for the size of the tank because I do not want any powerheads in my display.

This might be a little hard to read, but here is my design of my sump. I'm not sure on what height to make it yet, so feel free to comment to help me make improvements.

Finally have the stand finished, hopefully my bulkheads will be here soon so I can start plumbing it. I've decided to do two 10 gallons side by side for my sump connected by a bulkhead to save on cost and it will be about the same volume.

Looks very clean. I love the stand. I think its gonna come out super nice. You planning for sand? I think the sump looks good. I would suggest a nice framed plastic screen top it wont affect your light that much but then no fish jumping. Just to have it on there at night and when your not home so you don't lose any jumpers. I'm getting all necessary materials for many tanks and I will have extra parts for you no prob bro!

I am planning on having like an inch of sand, and i was already looking at window screen kits to make a frame to screen the top. But if you have extras sweet!!!. I am so happy with how the stand looks, and with the white light fixture hanging over it it will look amazing. It matches almost perfectly. I orginally wanted to make a custom sump, but to save money I'm gonna do two ten gallons side by side connected with bulk heads. I'll draw that up and post a picture of how that works. How big of a pump should I use for my return with keeping in mind that I do not want any powerheads in the display.

Got the light hanger all set up today, just need to sand them down once i get the chance. I still have been slacking on ordering the plumbing, I wish I could just drive somewhere to buy the parts in town. I like being able to picture it when I'm buying it.

I see what you mean by the electrical tubing now. Did you bend it yourself? You planning for a internal or external recirc pump? I would think 500-1000 gph depending on what you wanna keep in there. Def looks really sweet can't wait to see it in person.

I bent it myself at homedepot with the pipe benders. I think I'm gonna have to go internal with the amount of space I have, and I'm thinking a complete mixed reef with sps, lps and bubble tips.

Looks like a nice start! I bet you could hide a powerhead in one of those rock towers

I'm only hoping to hide the 4-5 returns in the towers.

What kind of lighting do you have there?

It is a sunlight supply 4x 24" t5 fixture.

Looks like you're off to a great start!

Thanks,

Sonny

Thanks Sonny, Lmk about those blastos

Looks great!

Thanks Rev!!!
