Hi,

I have a simple question about salinity measured in ppt. Is the relationship between amount of salt linear? Means if 1000g salt raise salinity by 10 ppt. Will adding another 100g raise it by another 1ppt? (note numbers are definitely wrong, even if linear).

If it is not linear, do we know the relationship between the two?

FWIW, a mathematician might quibble with the exact use of the term linear since it is weight salt per total weight, not weight salt per weight water, but it is close enough for any reefing purpose.
