Salinity and ATO

tank is 90 gallon temp I have set to 78
when I make a batch of saltwater in my garage I make it at 35 a day in advance but after the water change the next day I check the tank and the salinity drops to 34 is this because of the ATO?
How do I correct this?
If it’s my skimmer what do I do?
Any help is greatly appreciated

First thing is to get an accurate reading. The Tropic Marin Hydrometer is pretty accurate. You’re ATO will top off with fresh water, but that should not affect salinity much. When the water evaporates, the salt stays in the tank. The skimmer shouldn’t affect salinity much either.

@PMorgan how are you measuring salinity? What is the salinity in the tank before you add the new saltwater?

Personally, I’m a fan of the Hanna salinity meter because its very easy to use and automatically adjusts for temperature of the water
