I super appreciate how he really focuses on how important the care of the animals are.

I've gotten a lot of flak on this website for making similar comments, like how fish don't just die and aren't disposable, or how you should be putting your animal's needs ahead of having a pretty aquascape. Unfortunately I am usually hit with "what you think is ethically wrong doesn't apply to me" kind of attitude

Hopefully these tenets start to become more well observed in our hobby because it's our best defence against people who want to remove our rights to keeping reef tanks.

And that is a great point. It's why I push for a fishless cycle. To learn about the hobby BEFORE you get wet. To treat fish like they're your pets, not just something that looks pretty. Goes for corals and inverts as well. OK. I am pulling my soap box back. Needs to be stored lest I ramble on (sing my song, find the queen of all my dreams --- enter guitar). Name the artist. NO GOOGLE!

After watching this video, I realized that I am very much guilty of not enjoying my tanks to the fullest because I compare them to the best of the best. This also causes me to doubt my abilities in reefing at times and bring down my self esteem. Well, that stops now! If you haven’t watched this video, Ryan makes some very good points and I think they will resonate with most of us. Let’s get back to enjoying our tanks because they are ours, not because they are a “10”.
