I find this piece interesting as it has a foggy back story and its association with the RR JD. What I have gathered through the years there were two version going around. 1 may have been the same as JD and the other not. I believe what I am growing is the one that is not but I'm really not sure. I have never had any blue polyps. It sure is unique though.

Here is a current pic of my colony that has been having explosive growth. I got some of the contrasting inner / base green on it but not as much as I'd like. I'm thinking of moving down to lower par and see if I can get more of it.

Feel free to share your frag / colony pics. If you want some, I got plenty.

I was just talking to some of my buddies about this piece this week. There are lots of versions floating around; some look like red and gold JD's, some look like tyree pink lemonade on steroids (think TSA's version), and other look like mislabeled PC rainbows haha Curious to see what pops up in this thread.

From what I’ve had, the RRC version seems to be very similar to jawdropper much for then the RRU version. I lost my RRC version a while back but still have the RRU. It’s changed colors for me quite a few times.

Can you post more pics or your colony? I happened to stumble upon a couple frags that will be showing up next week. From what I saw the polyp color looks almost goldish with blue/purple on the end and the body of the coral is very light blueish/green.

Here is my RR Bleeding Avengers colony that I had before I broke the tank down and sold it. :)

What were your parameters and how much par was it under? I'm pretty sure this was grown under 700+ par, which I know can make a difference in color.

It was actually at around 520 par. You are right about the colors with higher par though. It was just plain green when it was at 250 par.

Parameters:
Salinity - 1.026 sg
Alk - 7.2 dKH
Nitrate - 5.3 ppm
Phosphate - 0.26 ppm

Never bothered to test for mag and cal. Hope this helps

Definitely does. It will be interesting to see what mine does under a bit lower par.

I hate to say it, but there have been a lot of fakes floating around of the real RRC Bleeding Avengers. Most of them are probably mislabeled. Would hate to see people passing around fake frags.

The real one is basically a RRC JD without the blue polyps it develops

No worries. I won't sell anything into the hobby that is something it's not. I did get these off a reputable source which is why I am wondering if they will color up different under a little less par and in a different environment. We will see. I'm happy with the frags either way.

Here’s a pic of an accidental branch frag of my bleeding avenger colony. It‘s making a recovery from power outage that took out 25% of my livestock so it’s a little bleached. Looks like each persons version is different….interesting.
