Hey everyone,

So I have been noticing the left side of my Rose Bubble Tip anemone that has been transparent like bleached with a slight tan color.
Now I have a ViparSpectra 165watt above my tank. Now I don’t know if it’s because my lights are on too long or if they are on the low intensity side. He has been sitting in a hole of one of the rocks because he finally found his happy spot.

Although,
Something I also notice is him stretching out of the hole with his tentacles outwards.

My ViparSpectra blues are at 50% and whites are at 10% but I’m not sure if it’s enough while the lights are about 11” above the surface of the water.

My thought is that It probably extends when it’s hungry since I can’t see its mouth from a distance when it faces a rock beside it. I fed it, and it’s no longer extended. Yet my real question is that why does one side of his tentacles look transparent with no original stripes that the bubble has like any other bubble tip anemone?

My solutions at the moment is have a rock work higher and closer to the light or change my entire rock structure or increase the intensity of my blues.

Here are the before and after images of the bubble tip under two lights, I can still see the stripes on the other side of the bta under blues and whites. However the left side doesn’t have stripes to it under blue and white lights.

I’m not really seeing any problem here. Looks like a healthy nem to me. If it wanted less or more light, it would get up and go find it.
I found it pretty odd though because I usually never saw his entire body until he fully shown his tentacles. From that point I just noticed that a part from him had no stripes so I thought it was like he didn’t have enough lighting.. but I’ll play around with the lighting and ramp it up slowly to see where I should keep it at! Thanks for your response!

He looks really healthy to me. I wouldn’t change anything. If you do, he might decide to move on you. Anemones are very mobile creatures and if he is not happy he will find a new place.

Yeah, I’m glad he found his happy spot! Im just very curious about his growth because I would find every single change interesting in him. The only thing that I worry most about is my lighting because I have never PAR tested it. Though I know it’s a strong light that will be capable of handling my bubble tip anemone!

The way he is in that hole, there may be some spots that don’t get much light and these could turn lighter or white. Corals do this too on the undersides and deep in the center of colonies. Its nothing to be too concerned with.
