Drain and Return pumps took a bit of work but got everything setup leak free.

NOTE: If anyone decided to use the Apex flow motoring 2" meter here are some helpful times that I found the hard way..
1) USE PIPE DOPE AND SILICONE - I found a lot of stories after I had major leaking issues for the threads to the supplied 2" couplers

For the Return pump temporary setup: I'm using a cheap 2400GPH pump to start the cycle process to get it flowing and broke in for the time being. I will get my 2 Red Dragon return pumps soon but I want to get the cycling process started ASAP

Initial tank setup completed!!

Today the last parts to my return line came in! I'm running duel 1" RFG nozzles and they truly work like a charm!

Please ignore the cloudy water! I leveled the sand again and disturbed it a little to much today.

How low are they in the water? Are they going to drain out that much tank in a power outage?

5" lok-line section to the RFG. I have a 1 1/4" 1 way check valve in the return line and I have verified they wont back flow
Also it would be super tough to get water to back syphon up 15" of pipe lol

Well I've run into a snag and looking for a little advice on lights!

I have it narrowed down to 4 different lights:

Now I do have the EcoTech RMS rail already so all I need is one additional bracket to run the 4 XR15's

I have read a lot of good things about the AP9X and that 2 could possibly fit my build fairly well and they are connectable to Apex so that's a huge plus for me!

Any advice on these or possibly an additional setup ideas would be great!!! Looking to purchase next week

Sweet build so far! Sorry if I missed it but what coral are you wanting to keep? I am setting up a new tank and went with a sky and I am very impressed with the spread and how well it covers, really gives T5 like look. That being said I’ve had my sky set up for about 2 hours haha but I’ve read and watched enough about them to feel confident about it. If you are looking for the kessil shimmer it won’t give you that but if you’re going SPS heavy and want to avoid some shading they would be a good choice.

Only LPS (torch/hammer/zoas)

I am going to have a green moray / stingray in my tank so it wont be super super heavy with corals

I would vote for the XR15s then, should be more than sufficient and save you a little compared to the other options

Good thing is I already have the RMS rail with 3 mounts that were used on the g5 ones. Thinking that running 4 total and it would be the best option at this point!

UPDATE*

So I used Brightwell's XLM and Quikstart to do my fishless cycle. It has been going right along with the instructions until today. I have a slight bit of confusion now that my NITRATE spiked up to 80ppm semi early.

Ammonia dropped to 0 today
NITRITE stayed at its 2.0 mark today.
Yesterday NITRATE was almost to 5.0ppm now 80ppm today

Temp has been set at 84 degrees since the start.

I know I know I know the salinity is high but I mixed the Brightwell salt per the instruction and it ended up being a lot higher then the 1.024 I was aiming for.

Thoughts???
