HI guys,
I'm getting a bigger tank and wanted to upgrade my RODI system too. I currently have a RODI buddie 50gpd +di

I bought the aquatic life smart buddie booster pump yesterday and was planning to get the 100gpd 4 stage classic from aquatic life to replace the 50gpd BUDDIE later this week.

Ive been looking at different units, and although 100gpd seems to be the most common model sold by a variety of brands for reef aquaria, there is also 150/200 gpd units available to me (from max water..maxwaterflow.com - Canada) and for around the same price too.

I read on an older thread and also spoke to a customer support agent about the DI portion - he said that increasing the GPD too much will produce too much flow through the DI resin...unless you assumedly get a double DI resin cartridge or add an extra inline DI to a single resin cartridge system.

whats the optimal balance between higher GPD and number of DI cartridges? why is 100gpd so popular and readily available? what unit would you recommend ?

my motivation to upgrade was for increased speed while keeping 0 tds.

currently i make 5 gallon bucket @ 2.5 hrs at 50gpd
and 1.6 hrs with the booster attached @ 50gpd
