Is it okay to rinse equipment, etc with tap water and placing/using it back in the aquarium without drying it off, or rinsing with RODI water?

Is there enough trace 'contaminants' in the tap water to create issues if it where to get into the tank?

Been using tap for 4 decades with zero issue
