Working on planning a budget build. 60 gallon cube with sump in basement below.

I want to do 2 return pumps (likely AC) for reliability. Noise is NOT a concern. Looking for brand suggestions.

Priorities are: able to deal with about 9 feet of head pressure, lower cost, mostly reliable. Don't need fancy controls or wifi I'm willing to buy off-brand/china.

Thanks!

Welcome To The Reef!

Sorry, but I don't personally know of any pump that meets those needs.

Assuming you want 10x turn over for your tank, and dual pump is for when one fails, you still have the other one pumping 5x turn over for your system, then you probably would need a pump capable of pumping out 300gph at 9ft. You really need to be looking at the data sheet they provide, and would probably take it with a grain of salt knowing these chinese manufactures copypasta flowrate and pressure head chart some some where.

Popular external pumps would be https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/iwaki-md-70rlt-japanese-motor-1500-gph.html

For Internal pumps, sicce Syncra silent 5.0 or Syncra Pro 1900 GPH should do the trick

I second the sicce syncras. I run them on all my tanks and they have been very reliable. They definately move the water volume they advertise. The pump that came with my tank (chinese) crapped out so I replaced it with a Sicce Syncra of the same rating. The Sicce replacement pump was way more powerful than the chinese counterpart. I ended up having to switch it out for a weaker Sicce pump as it was too strong.
