Good morning reefers, I’m finally getting back into reefing following a 12 year hiatus.

I was always into nano tanks and that’s the most I can get permission for haha

Question is about a return pump.

I currently have a Nuvo 20 which I removed the all in one “box” and drilled for a Eshopps S overflow. Below it, I have a trigger 26 sump. I would have about 4’ head including 45s/90s and height.

Will be running a few fish. My favorite corals are still zoas, acans, chalice, Duncan. Maybe one or two sps.

Was considering either a mighty jet 538gph or a danner mag3, but I would like input from other people. Of note, will also be using a mp10

Any recommendations?

Thank you in advance

20 gallon correct?
Depends on how much turnover you want.
Jebao dcp 3500.
Quiet powerful, adjustable and cheap.

Ok I’ll take a look at this pump as well. Thank you for the input. Just looking for 3-5x norm

I've run lots of pumps over the years and still keep an eheim as a backup.
Always have a backup!
But once I started using these jebaos I've never looked back.

Yes good call. Never did when I was in the hobby initially. How often have you had to replace one of these?

I've had the same one running for over 3 years. No issues.
I'll take it apart every year or so and run it in vinegar for a day.

If excess Heat could be a problem, go with a 24 Vdc pump. They are cheaper to run and only put a 1/4 to a 1/3 off the heat a Danner add to the water. I like my Simplicity Pumps, but the smallest is too big for a 20 gallon.

I like the Sicce line of syncra silents but for a small tank, it would be hard to get the flow you are looking for since they are a/c powered. Sicce has a d/c powered pump, just need to know what turnover you want.
Looking for probably around 5x

The syncra 1.5 would just get you there wide open. The 2.0 would give you wiggle room and can be turned down ( syncra silent) BRS posts a picture of the pump flow/height chart

Do you think the DCP-3500 would be too much or would I be able to dial it down enough for about 5x turnover? Would the DCP-2500 be a better option?

Just remember that the height as well as 90 and 45 degree angles must be taken into consideration. The max flow coming out of the pump DOES NOT take this into consideration. There are calculators online to measure the loss of GPH with a return. And I've heard GOOD things about Sicce DC pumps. It's what I will go with.
