Hi all, I have never owned a saltwater tank before and am interested in starting. I saw a Red Sea 130D for sale for pretty cheap and think it might be a good idea. It doesn’t come with the light or the hood but I don’t mind because I figured open top and better light would be better for the tank anyways. I know the brand is really good but the tank is 8 years old and I’m concerned about the equipment maybe being outdated. I would love some of your opinions. I know most saltwater tanks have a refugium or sump and I know this thing has a sump but would it be possible to turn it into a refugium. Thanks.

Welcome to R2R!!! What equipment does it come with? Although some of the new equipment has more automation, most older equipment can work very well for you (certainly until you can upgrade later). Good luck!

Wow thank you guys so much! So many people welcoming me I feel so excited and ready to do it! I feel like fully reviving a retro Red Sea with modern equipment would be super cool and would look really good! I’ll let you guys know if I get it tomorrow!
