I purchased a used Oceanic Biocube hqi 32 tank, and I was very excited because it already had a light in it. Unfortunately, the light that comes with it is used a “double ended metal halide bulb” which I don’t like…. Is there a way to switch to led using the existing fixture??

You have 3 options that I know of

1) buy replacement oem hood in led version. Would need to double check hinge points are the same

2) pay someone for led retrofit. You mail them your hood, they mod it and send back

3) get led retrofit pack / kit from Steve’s LEDs and retrofit yourself. He can probably provide guidance on selection and instructions via email

Screwed up attachments. Repaired.

Those are also in order of quality imo, from lowest to highest.

Steve’s would be the best but the most work.

Factory coralife leds are probably decent but leave desire for customization or adjustment

The retrofit service probably falls somewhere in the middle

Thank you. I ended up buying a 60w smatfarm light and rigged the original holder to put my new light

I did it that way too, with the same light... But ultimately just swapped it out for the arm that came with the lamp.
