I had a 16g rimless tank in my classroom and then Covid hit so I broke it down and ended up selling the tank.
I want to start up another tank and came across a cheap Coralife Biocube 14g. I stated looking at mods/upgrades to this tank and noticed several reefers removing the lid AND top rim. I have an AI Prime 16HD that I want to use instead of the hood but want to get some thoughts on removing the top rim and if it a good/bad idea.

If the tank was not designed to be rimless, then I would not remove the rim. It is likely supporting the tank walls.
