Securely holding the skeleton as close to the base as possible, You should be able to snap the glue off the plug.

A flat blade screwdriver can also be used as can a butter knife.
So the glue should come off the plug? To me it looks like it might have been put on there with putty would that be the same?

If the skeletons snaps close to the base, will it severely harm the coral?

I have one of those flat razor knives that you use to scrape stickers from windshields. Works great. Takes the whole base off of the plug. Just be careful not to cut your finger off!

I have a hammer I’m struggling to place because of those big ridiculous plugs they come on and don’t have any specialist equipment?

How do you guys remove them? Can you just snap them from the base without killing them?
I cut the stem off the plug with bone cutters making it flat and easy to mount
