I'm not from Tennessee but I wanted to throw out a comment that you're free to ignore. Assuming you're planning on using this inside your stand under the display, here's what I would say.

I have a 55g that I used as a sump/fuge and hate it. So much that I'm finally getting rid of it. I found the 55 to be too narrow and too deep to work in it comfortably. I'm not saying it doesn't or won't work because it does. It's just not ideal. I would suggest a 40g breeder over the 55g.

Again, just my $.02 and unsolicited comment. Good luck which every direction you choose and happy reefing.

Don't make the mistake that I did in buying a sump without euro bracing... Need to get a new one now cause my corners are about to bust open

I have a 55g on top and I found making the baffles and setting them quite easy if you have a table saw I used quarter inch acrylic to be safe the spot with the egg crate is the input still deciding on a mechanical filter then skimmer after that DSB fuge area then return pump water tested fine just waiting to plump the overflow and return since my RO/DI arrived today

Totally have a nice fuge I could sell to you! Would you want the return pump and overflow box, and air thingy too? I feel like the one I have is like a 22 gallon

If you have not seen this clip from BRS, check it out.

Although the context is Chaeto, there's some good info of refugium size, contact time, lighting and so on. Really good stuff!

Is the 55 to serve as a sump with equip and a fuge? An actual 55G refugium could serve a MoNsTeR display!
