Hi, I’ve had this reef for about 2 months now, everything was fine and open and doing very well then all of a sudden maybe in the past week it’s just stopped opening up fully and not looking healthy. I will show some pictures below of before and after. It’s mainly my torch’s and frogspawns I am worried about those seem to not be opening. My zoas are fine. One of my candy cane is started to die I lost a head maybe a week ago. I also was nursing a dead acro back to health and it was doing good then all of a sudden turned white on me and appears to be dead. I have my skimmer running 24/7 if that has anything to do with it I also have UV running. I will test the water parameters when I get home tomorrow. Also have coralline algae growing everywehre on my back glass again which may be a good sign of I’m doing something right. Also on my frag rack I’ve got this weird orange slime growing on it, it is not dynos or anything I’m not sure what it is to be honest. I am dosing alk and calcium and just replenished it. Also running chemi clean for cyano bc I saw some. Thank you very much for your time. Really worried about this.

You might want to remove the photo of you vehicle’s license plate.
And the snap chat thing, lol.

First off, try to slow down a little. With the tank being 2 months old, you will have a lot of learning to do and the tank is not stable. There are so many things that can be wrong, and we need to see alk, nitrate, phosphate, salinity and a current photo of the tank. Chemiclean can strip the system of its oxygen. Did you add an air stone? How are the fish looking? How much cyano was there? I've had some pretty bad outbreaks before and corrected my phosphates to get rid of it.

Are you measuring you all and calcium before dosing it? How much did you raise your alk by?

You're for sure doing something different than whoever you bought that reef from. It's clear that its older than two months. That's why I'm assuming you bought it used.

I'd start there and figure out what it is I was doing different than whoever grew those colonies. Sometimes it takes a while for the negative things to start showing up.

Until you can sort those differences. Check for stray current. Faulty heater. Faulty powerhead. Rust...all the usual things.

If you're not already, I would consider adding in some carbon to hopefully help pull out anything extra that might be making things upset.
I have a bunch of carbon running in the tank aready aswell as sponges, skimmer,uv, and phosphate remover

I completely forgot to put an air stone in. Will the fish be fine until 4 o’clock today do you think? Wasn’t much cyano at all. I have an automatic doser I’ll will send the measurements when I can

What are you levels though? You could be dosing that much, but how much is your tank consuming? If you're adding too much or too little, your alk will not be stable.
