Fact #255

The Astraea snail do not have the ability to turn themselves back over if they fall upside down. If not placed upright they will die.


Truth or False? What else might we need to learn on this subject? Please also share any pictures that may pertain to the subject.

ugh unfortunately I've found this to be true...... :-( I started out with about 25+ and now I'm down to probably 12 maybe. It's sad. I try to turn them over as I see them. Mexican Turbo snails are pretty decent at righting themselves and are much more fun to watch, but I do like the smaller size of astraea snails.

Too many fall every day, i get the ones i see, but after a few months gota replenish snails, and once they hit the ground upside down my hermits are on the prowl.

True and they are my best algae cleaners ;( I buy a dozen about every 2 months.
