Hi I’m new to mixing my own salt water. I use redsea coral pro. I do a 10L water change every week. I follow the recommended 38.2g per litre of RO water, so for my 10L water change I would require 382g. I test salinity around 1.5 hours after adding the salt to find I have a specific gravity of 1.022, so I added some more salt to make it 1.026. I then tested the DKH to find it was 13.5?! It’s this water with elevated DKH safe to put in my tank?

thanks!

Its normal for coral pro to be in the 12ish dkh range. I treat it like dosing though. For small water changes, use coral pro. For larger changes I use blue bucket.

You can also do a 50/50 mix between coral pro and blue bucket on every water change.

Just watch your tanks alkalinity. You dont want huge swings because of water changes.
