Hi everyone,
I am trying to make a list of the things I need to set up a Red Sea reefer 250 and have some questions.

-How many mp10s/mp40s do you need for a reefer 250? (I’ll be keeping mostly lps and maybe some sps)
-How many radions/hydras would you need for a reefer 250? (I’ll be keeping mostly lps and maybe some sps)
-What dosers and things other than the sump do you think I’d need to get the setup started?

TIA :)

The RS 250 I would recommend two of either XR15's or Hydras32's or some Blades with some Kessils.
You will want even coverage no mater which light you go with.
Is this RS250 going to be new?
I use different simmers in my tanks, But I do have an RSK300 skimmer that I like (AC not the DC one)
I also use Ecotech dosers but you can just go with a Jebao, They are inexpensive and replacement parts are cheap. They are a pain to program, but once you get it set you probably not going to change it, maybe once every few months are your tank grows.
A used Red Sea probably not the best idea.

I have one mp 40 for a red sea reefer 425 xl and return pump. I would say get the mp 40 and you can run at like 60% speed or a setting that changes. Rather get bigger then maxing them out because they get loud at 100% speed.

Honestly get a cheaper light at first there are NICREW HyperReef 150 and other mid level lights that grow fine. You could drop more but there are a lot of mid level lights when ur getting started. I started off a black box and went to a 300 - 400 light works great.

My LFS helped me set up this G2+ 250, and I must say after 25 years in the hobby this is by far the nicest and simplest equipment setup I have ever seen. My equipment list includes:

Red Sea Reefer G2+ 250
Sicce Silent 3.0
Reef Octopus 150SSS
Simplicity 5 gal ATO
ZetLight refugium LED
Aquatic Life G3 Hybrid with T5s/AI Primes
Ultum Aquarium hanging bar
Jager Trutemp 150 watt heater
ReefBeat ATO (came with tank)
Dual Maxspect Gyre 308s

Yes it is :) Ordered a couple OG Bounce as well and planning on adding one or two more pieces of Live Rock to get the height up on the softie side. Not sure what kind of coral I want to put in the back. I'm leaning towards another Torch at the moment.

I think you will be really happy with a Reefer 250. I really think it's the perfect size for ease of set up and maintenance.

I've been doing this for almost 25 years and I really like to keep things as simple as possible so I dose B-Ionic 2 part by hand daily when necessary. At the moment though the tank doesn't need any dosing. The weekly 5 gallon water change is plenty.

Awesome thank you. Mind if I can see some more pics of your tank and do you know how much approximately it cost to initially set it up? I’m 14 and im trying to save up to get a setup like yours. :)
