So I'm brand new with a big tanks. I've had little betttas but nothing big. I'm working on designing a 150 gallon or so tank, with a lot of bells and whistles. I travel for work so all of the automation toys are not only fun but important. Also I'm just a colossal nerd.

I just went to a local aquarium store and so far he was the first one to take me seriously out of the seven I've gone to. They were very focused on Red Sea aquariums with all of the Apex toys. His big thing on the Red Sea was that you can level them with the leveling feet on the bottom and that no one else does that and that that is why they beat everyone else.

I'm researching leveling big tanks now and there's a lot of contradictory information especially for someone like me that is a nerd but not super handy. Like people talking about shims and stuff, that's all new to me. They will come set up the entire tank and level the Red Sea stand for $2,200. I'm also a small woman so having stronger people set it up is attractive. All told I'm getting a quote for $18,000 for my entire setup. I'm pretty sure I can do it more affordably. But I also do want good quality so if it's 18 it's 18.

So I guess my big question is and overall any advice whatsoever, my second question is are those little leveling feet so critical that they make the Red Sea so much better than a water box or innovative Marine or the others?

I'm still reading and researching and learning so much everyday! I'm in no rush. Thank you in advance for the help!

Well, if you don’t level your tank it might not drain properly and many people just use shims to accomplish the job.

Research Red Sea Tanks on here and make sure you get a newer model.

Level tanks to improve performance and good luck with your new reef

you know back in the day we talked about parting the red sea....now it 'sall about leveling the red sea.

haha joking aside 100% make sure the RS tanks are level and you get a G2 or what ever is the current model is.

also look in to innovative marine tanks. i thing they are the best bang for the buck out there right now.

18K for a 150 gallon tank? does that include rock sand light fish coral everything you could possibly want?? sound very steel to me.

you live in socal. there is a huge reefing community there, join the local reefing club I bet people would come help you level the tank.

This is simply not true. I set up a water box 330.7 and it has leveling feet. I'm pretty sure others do as well.
I have two redsea tanks a 300g2 and 170. To be honest redsea wouldn't be on my list of considerations for a new large tank. There just been too many seam failures IMO.

EDIT : You can show this to the lfs and tell him he is lying or misinformed

Same

I love them for their small tanks

But for larger tanks, definately would want Eurobrace for mine

And no, $18,000 for a high quality 180G with all quality equipment is expected
