Do you know the tank dimensions? I think you'd want to start with 4 and possibly go from there depending on what you want to grow. I would also recommend adding two supplemental bars on the side.

The glass tank is 4' x 31" x 25" ; bottom portion of stand is 34" x 26" x 50" ; Top cover is 1' x 26" x 50"

Oh ok so its 31 inches deep? In that case, I would say that 4 of those lights plus at least 2 supplemental bars should work (two on each side would be best). Each puck should grow a mixed reef in an 18x18 area.

As someone who runs RS50'S on a reefer 250 with much less depth and a still needed more light than they could manage, I'm going to say these lights are not right for the tank. The Reefled90 were designed for this size tank.

Although they are nice little lights, they are Only 50 watts and do not penetrate all that well.

Yeah I think they are comparable to an AI prime on this tank. I would think that the addition of 4 supplemental led bars would fix the issue, but at that point, I am not sure how much they would save by using their current light.. Alternatively, they can use it as a refugium light :D

With the OP Tank depth, they will have issues getting 50 par on the sandbed at 100/100 white and blue on those lights. They are not made for deep tanks.

Yeah that is what I was thinking adding two quantas on each side would fix since those things are powerhouses. This way they get the shimmer from the rs50 and the punch from the quantas.

I'll have to defer to you on the power of the quantas. I've never used them.

I love my RS ReefLed's. Personally, if I was setting up this tank, I would not be trying to make the underpowered lights work, by buying a bunch more lights.

So the tank came with mars aqua lights 4 of them. Do you think they will work fine? I just have a BTA, star polyp, and mushroom. I’d like to add more corals eventually but nothing to difficult lol.
