My 40 gallon tank is freshwater. I have circles of coralline algae growing. I was able to get some off with a razor blade last water change. It does not look good and needs to go. I have a large Pleco, and he doesn’t touch it. Any ideas for getting rid of it would be appreciated. I bought some bio balls but I think that just made it worse.

First welcome!
Second, I dont know if people just dont read the welcome posts or choose to ignore the questions that are asked sometimes. Try posting in the algae forum for an actual answer to the question may bring you some answers. As for coralline algae in fresh water I dont think its actually possible though I have seen something similar on another forum years ago. Pics in white light and more info on the algae and water parameters may be needed. I am guessing it is some kind of cyano type thing as was the other one I referred to.

Welcome aboard. Post some pics when you get a chance. The only known freshwater coralline that I'm aware of is from a river in Croatia. Your algea is probably a different red algea. What are the tanks parameters? Some red algea will show up with low nitrates.
