While on vacation, the auto feeder was probably feeding too much on top of us being generous prior to leaving. We’re now dealing with hair algae and trying to get it under control. We’ve added a pin cushion urchin and a short slime urchin. We have also added GFO (we’re in week two and have already changed the GFO out once). Phos was around 0.2 when I first tested upon return, but is still sitting around 0.1. We have twice, manually clean as much as possible with our hands. Anything we can do differently to make it easier?

I'm also thinking I'll pick up a reactor and pump. Right now I'm just using Blue Chemi pure in the bag it comes in and GFO in a media bag. I'm not thrilled with how much of the GFO is getting out into the sump and I've read that reactors are better in general. As of now, I'm thinking I'll order the dual BRS chamber with the sicce pump. Any thoughts on this?

NOTE: We plan to setup a refugium in the near future, but I want to wait until we can afford another hydra 32 hd + mount and all the rock, ect for the refugium. The plan is to take one of our Prime 16 (we have 2 primes and 1 hd 32 right now) and use that and a nero 3 in the sump. I also want to get another neptune energy bar to pair it all together. Thus a future plan.

You are doing all the right things. It just takes time. Regarding the reactor, you have selected a great option. Nothing too complicated about reactors so not much difference between brands and the BRS one comes with good quality components for valves/tubing. Sicce makes some of the best pumps on the market so can’t go wrong.
