Hello reefers,

thanks to reef2reef as I bought this innovative marine 50 ext here from fellow reefer.

Here are build details-

1. Innovative Marine 50 EXT with white stand
2. KP aquatics starter live rock(excited to see this rock)
3. Nero 5 initially and then add Nero 3 or Nero 5 depends on flow demand
4. Eshopps RS 75 sump
5. Eshopps Axium X-120 skimmer
6. BRS carbon reactor
7. Zeovit media as I am going with zeovit with this.
8. Light still debating Kessil A360x or hydra or radeon(I am big fan of metal halides and t5’s even though I used Radeon XR30 g5 blue earlier)

Will post pics soon

(Center it right to left on the tank so it looks good; and don’t cut more of your screen than is necessary. I just cut out about a large postage-stamp’s size worth of screen; that’s all you’ll ever need to feed.) Best wishes!

I love caustic lines / shimmer. For me, this is an easy choice. I do not think that these two lights are in the same niche though. How would you implement the 500x?

If you want a light really high up the Kessil a500X or couple of them--could be cool. Light in the ceiling high and use different reflectors to get what need for par and spread.

You could mount say 25 inches or so above the tank, have two 500's spaced apart and angle in toward the center of the tank. Use the 35 degree reflectors. Something to consider. Kessil has lobby tank sort of like this.

EDIT: I'd place them slightly forward above the tank too. Then angle them toward the back of tank and in toward the center of the tank. This would cause corals to grow up and into them (and at you!) and also it might reduce light on the front pane, lessening algae there.

I get enough light with just an A360x plus 55 degree reflector on my 50 EXT. Buttt the shading of corals is pretty bad. I have an acro frag directly under the center of the light and that’s even shading itself.

I’m planning to get a second A360x (with reflector) and spreading them out so I get reduced shading.
