I think it is sweet, and I might know you cpt usa07...it fits the description of what I see labeled as rainbow bubble tips.

most rbta have a greenish base color and white specks and streaks in the center. dosnt mean I am going to call them a lightning rainbow bta
some japanese rbta have a blue tint to the base and some green bta have purple tips they are less common but still common at most lfs

for it to be a rainbow there needs to be more than 2 colors

sorry loks like a normal bta to me

Well I see more than two colors in the second pic and I don't see anything about it being a "lightning rainbow nem". I see a person with their second post on r2r showing off their sweet nem they just got. I see far less colorful bubble tips being sold as rainbows, the first pic it actually looks more like a rose bubble tip...second pic looks multicolored to me. Poor picture but i see green, yellow, and red in the fingers alone. I guess someone needs to check with the anemone authority before posting a pic.

BTW welcome to R2R cpt America.

He got it from the Internet for less than most people will pay for a green bubble tip...so no bringing it back. Like he stated in his first post he finds it amazing so I am pretty sure he is quite happy with his purchase. I'm looking forward to seeing it in person in a couple weeks personally, and when it splits hopefully I get a half to put in my display.

So for it to be a rainbow it needs to display 36 different colors under 6500 K lighting?

what is the argument?
it is a very nice red bubble tip anemone and he is happy with the purchase!
dont care price it dosnt matter even if it was free, everyone should be properly informed! wrong id's are ruining it for all the newb reef keepers

as far as rainbow bta that is a "newer" term to get more $$ it sounds better than tri color bta or quad color bta
I think a coral nem whatever needs to have 4 colors before it is considered a rainbow

sorry CAPT AM3RICA o7 didnt mean to upset anyone just thought a proper id would help

The argument is you come into a new members show off thread calling it a "lightning rainbow nem" (essentially mocking his stuff) then tell him to start buying his stuff somewhere else. (BTW I have no idea who he got it from other then someone online) It has been common practice in the industry to label coral and nems displaying three or more colors rainbow. If you don't agree with the way the retailers are labeling things then that is your opinion, and you should go into some of the retailers forums and take it up with them (not a new r2r member). I also think the rainbow monicker is used to loosely in the reefing community, but that anemone would be sold as a rainbow anemone by way over 50% of the vendors on r2r and sold for well into triple digit pricing. Most retailers will take a picture of the nem in blued out lighting to show all of the colors it has potential of displaying, they are not going to show a 6.5 - 10k photo.

I think you may be confused please re-read the posts!

really triple digit? they are $35-$65 depending on size at the lfs

AGAIN it is a nice healthy nem congrats! most sold are bleached and or stressed to the max
sorry its not a rainbow

this is a great community with exception of the overzealous mis-informed reefer the reason for correct id's

Your local fish store may sell every bubble tip they get for 35-65, that is good for you. However like I stated, several vendors here in r2r (not your local fish store) would label this as a rainbow nem and stick a triple digit price tag on it. Your comment "doesn't mean I'd call it a lightning rainbow bta" is clearly mocking the OP fr calling his nem rainbow because it displays several colors. Your comment "I wouldn't go back to that LFS" is clearly stating he needs to shop somewhere else. My LFS sells every single Zoa frag for 15-25 dollars including the 5 polyp one I bought with a nearly identical Zoa to your avatar, but I'm not running into every thread I see that mentions that polyp and telling them they overpayed. There are vendors who have slapped a name on that polyp and sell it for triple digit prices and there are some who sell it in 100 four packs with free utter chaos. I know how much he payed for that nem, and with the size 4 1/2 - 5 inches I bet he got it for less than your LFS would sell it.

And I would not call myself an over zealous misinformed reefer, as I put a lot of time in researching anything and everything I'm going to invest my money in. I am very thrifty and just about eveything in my tank I probably payed less than 95% of the people on here would guess. I just don't run around preaching my opinion as if it is reefing law, and respectfully acknowledge a persons excitement in a new purchase...especially when they are not off base from the typical r2r sensus.

Def, has four colors in the BTA look at the picture. Looks like it ate a bag of skittles. During my day lights are on you can still see 3 colors, and so I'm pretty sure it's a rainbow BTA

so you dont just take my word for it---- look here
Drs. Foster and Smith Diver's Den® - Entacmaea quadricolor

search all the bta. they are all different colors. and still just rbta

yes the price is more than you pd but thats not what I am getting at they are all rose bubble tip anemones not rainbow!! it is even in there latin name all of them are 3-4 colors the ones with the extreme colors some lfs list as rainbow to get more $$
if you got it from ebay looks like the name game didnt work out for them because I here you pd $32 for it decent price for a beautiful healthy nem
